Around 2pm on April 22, several of our growers cut a dinner-sized plate hole into Putrella's spathe (the ribbed, green leaf surrounding the tall middle spadix) to access the pollen produced by the male flowers. This pollen will be stored to pollinate future blooms at Muttart, as well as to share with other conservatories.
